Rooted in spirituality

Fame is fickle, demanding, often leaving celebrities stressed and vulnerable. Young stars, caught in the constant glare of publicity, are finding that faith, prayer and connecting with the divine, offers core strength and a sense of being grounded

In an age where the glare of fame can often overshadow personal tranquillity, many young stars are increasingly embracing spirituality and serenity as central to their lives. This shift towards incorporating spirituality into their daily routine highlights a growing trend among young public figures seeking deeper meaning and balance.

For many, prayer has become a sanctuary amidst their high-profile lives. Ananya Pandey, for example, finds immense solace and strength through her spiritual practice. “Prayer is my sanctuary, where I find both solace and strength. In those quiet moments of connection, I feel enveloped in a protective embrace that shields me from the chaos of the world. I have idols of Gods and Goddesses from across India. A simple act of doing alankaar is so therapeutic,” she says. Complementing her prayer, devotional music helps Ananya focus and align her thoughts, bringing balance to her personal and professional endeavours she shares.
Similarly, others find profound faith in the belief that their prayers are answered. Nikki Galrani exemplifies this with her strong conviction that every prayer she makes is met with divine response. She has created a special meditation space in her home where she conducts small pujas and engages in collective group meditation with her family. “When one prays with true faith, God answers prayers,” Nikki affirms. This dedicated space provides a personal retreat and she says, “Chanting and focusing your thoughts on your goals is the best form of manifestation.”
Spiritual practices beyond traditional prayer are also gaining popularity. Tibetan chanting and sound healing, for example, are increasingly being adopted by busy stars to centre themselves. These practices are believed to promote emotional balance, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. Bhavana Panday highlights the effectiveness of such therapies in her own life, stating, “Tibetan chanting and sound healing have been transformative for me. They offer a deep sense of calm and clarity, helping me maintain balance amidst a hectic schedule. These therapies are incredibly effective in grounding me and enhancing my mental and emotional well-being.”
Mrunal Thakur also embraces spirituality during her travels. Whenever she is in a new city for a shoot, she makes it a point to explore local temples. “I find that visiting temples and connecting with positive supernatural forces helps shift the energy around me. It motivates me and guides me towards a more focused and driven mindset,” she says.
Janhvi Kapoor, too, is deeply connected to her spiritual practices. Her frequent visits to Chennai often include pilgrimages to some of the city’s most ancient temples. Her devotion to Lord Balaji is evident from her appearances at Tirumala. On less publicized visits, Janhvi has been seen wearing a traditional Kanjeevaram half saree while praying and chanting at Arulmigu Sri Muppathamman Temple, reflecting her deep and personal commitment to her faith.
Singer, songwriter, and social activist Khatija Rahman reflects this trend through her embrace of spirituality as well. Her faith in Islam has broadened her perspective, fostering inclusivity in her career and personal life. “Religion has broadened my understanding and made me more inclusive,” she reveals. Her prayers have guided her in forming diverse relationships and appreciating different backgrounds. “Through my prayers and devotion I have learned to appreciate the beauty of diversity and the value of inclusivity. Prayer for me is also a simple act of kindness or learning a very nuanced form of Sufi. These acts can be very uplifting and spiritual,” she explains.
The public engagement of celebrities with various places of worship further illustrates this trend. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivn, for instance, are frequently seen visiting dargahs and temples, blending their spiritual practices with their public lives. Their commitment to their faith demonstrates how personal beliefs can harmoniously coexist with high-profile careers.
Spirituality and serenity are becoming integral to the lives of stars, providing them with a source of inner peace and enhancing their ability to navigate the complexities of fame with grace and inclusivity.
