67 Reduce-Reuse-Recycle centres started in Vijayawada city
VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has opened 67 Reduce-Reuse-Recycle (RRR) centres in Vijayawada as part of its plan for a cleaner and greener city.
Union Ministry of Housing and urban affairs, in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, forests and climate change, has initiated Meri LiFE Mera Swachh Shehar Campaign. Under it, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle centres are proposed to be started in each ward of the municipality.
The main RRR centres have been inaugurated by West MLA Velampalli Srinivas, mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi, ACP K.V. Satyavati, Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, VMC commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar and deputy mayor Bellam Durga.
At the ward level, all 64 ward corporators inaugurated the RRR centres in their respective divisions.
MLA Vishnu said RRR centres will serve as a hub for residents to donate their old clothes, old books, plastic waste, old toys, flower waste, and e-waste. He appealed to citizens to donate their recyclable items at their nearby RRR centres.
