Guys get whitewashed
Everyone owns a classic white shirt because it is timeless and the ultimate wardrobe staple, especially the simple long sleeve button-down ones. The ’80s vibe is definitely out again to try out of the most popular looks we saw on the catwalks this season which is wearing white from head-to-toe. For those who might think that’s too much, try swapping out your top layer for an indigo denim jacket or light, tailored navy blazer. As fashion has emerged and we step onto the year 2018, we have witnessed many different types of white shirts for men that are so in season! So, how could you make a basic item like this look stylish? So as we transition into the spring season, we get some key tips and styling directions to help you wear your white shirt.
Ankit Kalija, a young fashion graduate from NIFT says, “It is always a classic choice for men. A white shirt works well for all occasions. Personally, I would suggest that you pair it with navy slim fit trousers. Which will give you a formal casual look and works well when you have to transform from work mode to party mode without hassle? If you want an edge over the plain white shirt you should equip yourself with oxford weave white shirt. This added self-texture will uplift your classiness subtly.”
Apart from the old fashioned top to bottom white we get to know a few other ways, you could give that plain white shirt, as twist. A city-based menswear designer, Manoviraj Khosla tells us about the few new trends that have kicked in this season. He says, “This trend is sort of an evergreen one that you can never get rid of and can be worn with anything. If it's plain white shirts you could imprint them with some flower prints. It matches so easily with anything and comes great in linen, cotton, and satin. Since in the early days, white was always associated with Jitendra and you would be made fun of if you wore it but it's not the case anymore.
No matter what classics never run out of fashion is what fashion curator and expert, Prasad Bidappa feels and says, “The white shirt is the ultimate fashion classic and never ever went out of style! A man looks best in both casual and formal styles and these pair with just about anything, from jeans and chinos to formal black pants”.
For a woman, according to designer-stylist Purvi Sahu, white is more of a colour in which everyone feels comfortable in. “It’s a go-to colour,” she says.
“On gloomy days or on days you don’t really want to think about what you want to wear, you could always pull off a white shirt with a matching white jeans or a blue one perhaps. It also depends from each person’s style and I’m sure every guy has at least two to three good white shirts stocked up in their wardrobe which they can wear at work, while going for a date or even a fancy occasion.”
