Ever thought of carrying your very own green space with you? Well now, you can don Mother Nature around your neck, on your ears and even your wrists! Leafy Affair, an online store started by Bengaluru girl Supriya Donthi, brings the most beautiful terrarium jewellery with green elements preserved in miniature glass bottles, bulbs and jars.
A nature lover from the beginning, 24-year-old Supriya says that’s what inspired her to start her own brand. “Everytime I’m around greenery, it gives me an enchanting stroke of peace and happiness. Back in May, I found out that a number of artistes around the world crafted everything from terrarium, mossy and even cacti jewellery and wanted to buy them, but then realised that none of them were from India. Since I was interested in it, I was sure there would be many others like me who would be head over heels in love with it as well. That’s when I decided to make it available in our country,” reveals Supriya about her creations which start from Rs 699.
But the quirky lady reveals that she has had a creative streak since she was a kid! “Since my childhood, I’ve been into handicrafts. It’s my thing,” says Supriya who also has a regular 9-5 job.
“I am supremely passionate about my terrarium project, which is why I can manage. Also, I feel women are born with the ability to multitask, which is what I do,” adds Supriya, who uses Reindeer moss, Spanish moss, Sheath moss and moss bark among a few, in her unique creations.
To give an added edge to her designs, she also takes customisation requests. “I craft the charms as per requests because I want to make each piece as unique as possible. I have got requests for different themse such as forest, or beaches, which makes the work challenging as well as exciting. To match with the theme of preference the right pebbles and moss needs to be chosen. They can also pick the colour of the chains used,” says Supriya who goes the extra mile because she believes that every woman is special and deserves something something unique! Certianly, a lot of thought goes into each piece.
“My creations are inspired by travel and events I have witnessed, which is why most pieces are unique and limited edition,” the designer says in conclusion.
