Dress up for the rainy days
Rainy days most often calls for cosy over-sized sweaters and a cup of coffee. Not many think of style and fashion when the weather is dull and gloomy. Shaila Shree MN, stylist in the film industry, however states that this according to her is the best time for fashion. With the weather dull and gloomy, style is what elevates the mood, she says.
She has a few wardrobe favourites that the monsoon brings out. “You can walk around water proof and in form,” she states.
Patterend Coats
Most often people choose a black oversized coat and pair it with whatever they are wearing. There is a better way to go about this. A coat can accentuate your outfit and give you an oomph factor, if chosen right says Shaila.
“Checkered coats, stripes, plaid or floral jackets make for great fun outfits and can upgrade your basic wear,” says Patricia D’costa, freelance model. You can also play around with the length of your coat.
Cropped Pants
It’s the perfect cut for the weather and are a blessing in the monsoons, says Patricia. You can either pair them with flats or with boots, both make for comfort footwear, keeping you looking sleek while serving its functional purpose too.
Mid-Length dresses
For those in hotter weathers, dealing with the rain and the heat can be a task. Shaila recommends mid-length dresses with knee length boots. “Choose from an array of outfits from. T-shirt dresses, flow A-line dresses or an oversized tunic, would work great. Layer it with a coat. Ensure that they compliment each other.”
Leather boots she adds has no season and is a classic that is a must in all wardrobes.
All LeatherDressing in complete leather may not be everyone’s cup of tea. You will be garnering attention and making a statement with a bold all leather outfit, says Patricia.
“You can pair a leather skirt with a white top and a leather jacket along with some funky leather footwear. Leather pants are in trend and designers now are pairing it with other material to create fashionable jackets and pants,” says Shaila.
Footwear
Monsoons definitely seem like the flip-flop kind of season but Shaila recommends going for sneakers or rain boots, either in black or tan. “Sneakers may not seem like the right option but it definitely is a comfortable one for those light drizzle days. You can also opt for canvas ballerinas if you are going shopping or can go for leather brogues or loafers for a formal office day.”
