Feet so GLAD!
Gladiators are a wardrobe stable. Whether you’re ready to go all out with its vivid hues or stick to a classic appeal in sturdy tan or beige, the right pair wont disappoint. Popular names from the city’s fashion fraternity lay out rules to help you slay the look...
While gladiators are quite versatile, designer Natasha Tyagi believes it is important to pay heed to the length of the outfit. “Gladiators look best with a nice easy fit shirt dress, but above knee length. Anything longer in length makes you look shorter,” she suggests. For those who haven’t given the look a go, starting out with classic shades are best recommended. “Tan gladiators go well with almost anything! Pick one in tan if you’re uncertain about colour-coordinating well.”
City based stylist Tasneem Khasim adds, "I think gladiators scream sass like none other! If you're a leggy lass, teaming them with a shirt dress will seem flawless! Wear them with feminine silhouettes for an impeccable blend of elegance and edgy. They look incredible with attires that have frills, laces and fringes. Gladiators exude a Boho vibe, which gives you the opportunity to experiment with casual wear. It's chic yet classy. Colourful gladiators are cool, but always keep a pair in black. They won't disappoint."
Designer Nagashree Barua believes gladiator sandals are the best ways to start out. “Begin by wearing gladiators with fewer straps. This also makes your feet appear wider. Steer clear of gladiators that are knee length, if you are petite. Gladiators which stop at the ankle are the best bets. Steer clear of gladiators at work, and only wear them with casuals. Stick to basic draws (patterns) if you intend on wearing them with varied outfits.
