Designer Reshma Kunhi is of the opinion that the modern women is bold and and ready to take on any trend. She adds, “Gone are the days where it was just about floral and other conventional prints. I feel graphic stripes is a trend which will suit any women and it looks classy and trendy. It will look good on a western, indian as well as indo-western outfits.” This casual trend can be carried off with ease. “You can try a jumpsuit with graphic stripes, ruffles and bell sleeves. The bootleg cut is in vogue, you can incorporate into your body suit. Midi and maxi skirts are in trend now and they are perfect for this season,” suggests designer Prachita Devi. Stripes are usually considered a western trend, but it has made into our desi way of dressing. Designer Riya Kodali shares, “ A colourful striped crop top could be easily paired with a floral or ethnic print skirt and a subtle dupatta. A striped palazzo can be paired with straight cut kurti. Also striped saree can be paired with strapless or a blouse with a simple neckline or vice versa.”
Prachita caution us about the type of accessories we choose with the types of stripes. She adds, “Minimal accessories for a bold stripe and vice versa. For a casual look, try a corset belt or even a logo belt keeping the colour neutral as the stripe itself is very bold. Opt of wedges and stilettos. Hoops go well with this trend.” Riya further adds, “A statement bag or clutch with or without stripes can be opted based on the elements in the look.” Reshma opines that this trend will suit almost any body type. “The only thing to remember here is the width of the stripe. Tall and lean women can wear the wider stripe print whereas women on the heavier side should wear a narrower stripe. Vertical stripes will also make a shorter woman look taller, “ she concludes.
