Choosing office attire can be one of the easiest and most daunting task, all at one. Your attire at work makes the first and lasting impression, they say. But you can have lots of fun while dressing for work too. Our experts help you own your corporate look like a pro.
Bringing in the arsenal
When it comes to official attires,it’s crazy fun mixing up clothes too. Fashion designer Laxmi Krishna believes simple changes with a focus on being comfortable can make a difference, for instance, wearing fitted over baggy clothes. “Team up your jeans with heels instead of flats as they instantly make you look more professional. Flats render a weekend casual vibe. Also, tucking in your shirt can do the trick too. Also, avoid deep necks and above-the-knee dresses,” she adds.
Designer Sparsha RK believes in keeping it simple yet classy with not too many colours. “Some casual yet appropriate looks for office could be jeans with a semi-formal, collared shirt, and blazer over a skirt or palazzo. Even a plain dress with tiny details like polka dots is a good choice,”advises Sparsha.

Work wear doesn’t need to be all western. “Try a three-piece salwar suit instead and rock the work look,” chips in Designer Prerana Sarkar, adding. “You can even opt for salwars that aren’ttoo dressy and ‘blingy’. Go for light and breezy colours like whites, olive greens and coral pinks and accessorise with a simple pendent.”
Laxmi also suggests experimenting with silhouettes, such as one-piece peplums, culottes, cardigans, one-piece pencil or body-con dress with blazer. Or go for the kill with a cotton saree,”she says as she shares some fashion tips to abide by: avoid large costume jewellery and ensure your purse colour matches your shoe’s colour. And while a good purse should be smallbut easy to open, ensure you opt for stilettos in nude, blacks and whites.
Accessorise, say all our experts, but keep it simple and classy. “If you’re wearing pumps on the feet, complete the look with a casual tote bag and a watch on the wrist,”says Sparsha signing off.
