Beauty and grace
What started off in 2016 finally took a beautiful turn in 2019 for Sanjana Vij, the Miss India second runnerup 2019 -and Miss India Telangana 2019. The post-graduate student of bio-technology from Amity University and an MNC professional from the city is now basking in the glory of her new found confidence and fame.
Elaborating on her tryst with the pageant, Sanjana says, “It was way back in 2016 when I started participating in beauty pageants. Even though I didn’t win then, it gave me the exposure and the confidence to work harder. I came to know my shortcomings and dedicated my time towards developing my skills and maturity level.” Further, she reveals, “It was not at all easy at the Miss India pageant. People think that it is fun to be working in the glamour industry but in reality, it is a lot of hard work.”
Interestingly, Sanjana is still not clear about her next steps. Generally, the runner-up goes to the Miss World competition, but that’s not happening in her case. “It is the general perception that the runner-up goes to the Miss World competition, but that is not always the scenario. It all depends on the internal committee who decides which pageant holder will go for which international crown competition. As of now, I am not yet notified. I am just enjoying myself with my family and friends,” she says.
The Delhi girl, who has been working in Hyderabad for the past few years, feels that the city has been absolutely lucky for her. “The real turning point came when I cleared the zonal level competition of Miss India and it was really a proud moment to represent Telangana at the national level. The city has given a lot to me and it would be really nice to get acting offers from Tollywood,” says Sanjana with a smile.
The beauty queen is not interested in the glamour world alone; she is into sports and dancing as well and has won medals in various 400 m runs. “I was in NCC, and then my father introduced me to shooting and running. On the creative side, I have learnt Bharatanatyam dance and also acted in theatre for some time,” says Sanjana as she signs off.
