Hyderabad: Akan Hyderabad’s first fundraiser event Akan Aahvaanam was organised on Independence Day in the spirit of giving back to the society in a meaningful way. Set against the backdrop of Hyderabad’s vibrant culture, Akan Aahvaanam offered a distinctive dining experience featuring local traditional flavours. Ingredients were sourced from nearby farms to ensure that every dish is crafted from the freshest produce, served on banana leaves—a practice that takes us back to our roots and honours our heritage.
Akan Aahvaanam is more than just a celebration; it is a tribute to the values of compassion and community. This unique “pay as you please” lunch experience seamlessly blends culinary excellence, artistic expression, and philanthropy into a memorable event.
For the occasion the contemporary setting of the buzzing resto bar transformed as the space was decked with traditional décor. As the guests sat down to savour an array of delectable regional dishes prepared by top chefs of Hyderabad, it was indeed a major shift from the regular work day at Akan Hyderabad. The enchanting melodies of a live sitar performance by the acclaimed Swayam Siddha elevated the experience. The afternoon of culinary delight and cultural enrichment was not just a feast for the senses but served as a chance to contribute to a cause that truly matters.
“As the spirit of Independence Day beckons us to reflect on freedom and unity, the team at Akan felt a deep-seated desire to give back in a meaningful way. Reflecting on six months of creating beautiful memories and hosting successful events, we sought to honour our journey and the community that has supported us. Just as trees do not consume their own fruit and rivers do not drink their own water, we believe that our purpose extends beyond ourselves—to uplift others selflessly, embodying the true essence of humanity. It is with this ethos that we proudly introduce Akan Aahvaanam,” shared Nageshwar Reddy Gurrala.
“Every rupee raised will support the Extramile Foundation, an organisation dedicated to providing critical aid to premature babies in NICU units within underprivileged families. By participating, each of our guests helped to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. We plan to do more such events in the future,” shared Nihal Reddy Gurrala.
Shilpa Reddy, holistic lifestyle influencer, entrepreneur shared her happiness to be a part of the beautiful initiative. “Akan Hyderabad has put together an amazing traditional meal and that the guests can pay as they please to express their support to the cause is an amazing thought. It is a drop in the ocean but drops like these make an ocean.”
Actors of the latest release on ETV Win Veerananeyulu Viharayatra Rag Mayur and Priya Vadlamani also visited Akan Hyderabad to express their solidarity. They interacted with the guests and tasted the food put together by Akan chefs. Rag Mayur sad, “This is a unique event for a good cause. We are delighted to be part of this amazing deed on the Independence Day.”
Dr Nitisha Bagga of Extramile Foundation was also present at the event where Telugu vegetarian meal was served on a banana leaf and guests thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and donated generously for the cause.
