Health is wealth, give it top priority, says Shreyas Talpade
Actor Shreyas Talpade discusses his personal struggles with health when he suffered a sudden heart attack months ago.
Q: What changes have you made to your lifestyle after the health scare?
A: When an incident like this happens, your priorities change. You think about what you are doing and what you are supposed to do going forward. Earlier, work used to take a lot of time and priority, but now that’s definitely not the scenario. Work is important, but my family and health take precedence over everything else. I’m just taking one day at a time, trying to take it easy. Luckily, my producers and directors have been supportive and cooperative in that respect.
Q: What is your new approach to life and work?
A: I have realised that health is wealth. I want to take it easy and go on for a longer duration, rather than running fast and finishing it off earlier. Life is one of the greatest boons we’ve been given, and I think we need to respect that by prioritising our health.
My advice to all is have regular checkups, listen to your body, and check all the signals that your body gives you. Don’t ignore or undermine these signals. Just make sure you listen to your body and do what’s required.
Q: How do you prioritise mental health and balance personal and professional life?
A: I try to keep myself calm, and balance my professional and personal life. Priorities have changed for me, and I have learned to let go of certain things, like working two shifts. I think it’s essential to sit back, think, and judge what's most important for you in life.
