Spray & Slay Every Day
Refresh your skin with Face Mist this summer and keep it well-hydrated and healthy

A face mist is a super-efficient way to cool your skin and give what it needs during summer. The instant spritz of refreshing hydration matters in sultry summer to quench the thirsty skin. Face mists are much more than a simple beauty indulgence. Face mist is sprayed on the face to hydrate, soothe, and replenish the skin. It can also help to set makeup, balance the skin’s pH level. Face mists offer hydration that can immediately perk up tired skin and revitalise it.
Face mists have become increasingly popular in the global market. Most skincare brands offer a hydrating or toning spritz, realising the growing demand for quenching products that can be applied easily throughout the day.
Celebrity Face Value
Celebrities globally are obsessed with face mists. American singer and actress Emma Roberts and the Barbie actresses Margot Robbie carry a refreshing face mist in their handbags for misting their faces often. Pop Star Justin Bieber prefers to mist his facial skin with the Grease Relief facial water to mattify the skin, soothe redness and refresh his face.
Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt swears by face mist as part of her daily skin care routine. She stated in a video: “It’s like a toning mist sort. It’s a tri-ceramide complex, it has probiotics, and it’s just really great.” Actress Pooja Hegde prefers a face mist for a quick hydration boost throughout the day to revitalise her skin instantly.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has showcased in a skincare video that she applies a facial mist to seal in the moisture. Deepika Padukone has launched 82°E By Deepika Padukone Jasmine Breeze Hydrating Face Mist, a soothing and hydrating face mist, enriched with Jasmine and Peptides.
With celebrities embracing skincare routines and beauty influencers constantly sharing their must-haves, face mists have found their sweet spot — especially with millennials and Gen Z.
The Skin Talk
Preksha Sinha, a Bangalore-based Lifestyle Influencer and content creator who goes by Instagram handle ‘lifewith_preksha’ says that the market is brimming with face mists options. From Ayurvedic blends and luxurious formulations to organic, clean options crafted for specific skin types like oily or sensitive skin. This trend caters to men and women. She says, “Even international brands are experimenting with mists that are both skincare and self-care in a bottle. Back to basics is the new trend — traditional ingredients are taking over skincare shelves.
The heat can be harsh on my skin in summer, and a quick spritz of turmeric cools, brightens and revives my face. It’s one of those little luxuries that makes a difference.”
Face Mists, Not Toners
Face mists are gaining popularity due to their convenience, versatility, and the rise of natural and organic skincare trends. Sunita Makhija, Director of Schnell Hans Salon and Academy Mumbai, says, “Toners are used to maintain pH balance, remove dirt, close pores, refresh skin and are usually alcohol based. While face mists hydrate skin, refresh, soothe and moisturise it, they are also used to set makeup. Face mists contain humectants, essential oils, emollients and plant extracts. Face mists can be suitable for all skin types, including oily and sensitive skin. A face mist is beneficial immediately after cleansing, before moisturizing. You can also use it throughout the day to refresh, soothe and boost hydration. A midday spritz of facial mist with a hydrating sunscreen is simply best.”
Sprayed Benefits
A fine spray of hydrating mist instantly cools, refreshes, and soothes the skin, helping to prevent dryness and irritation. “It also balances oil production and keeps your skin looking fresh. If you’re outdoors, a mist with antioxidants can protect against pollution and sun damage. It’s like a mini reset for your skin hydration on the go, anytime you need it. Just a quick spritz, and you’re good to glow!” Dr. Shireen Furtado, Senior Consultant, Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore.
Face mists also help to dilute concealers and foundations during make-up. Face mist also enhances the effectiveness of other skincare products. Face mists which have soothing ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber extracts, or rose water can calm irritated or sensitive skin, reducing redness and inflammation. Face mists with aromatic essential oils like lavender, sandalwood, or Rosemary can give stress relief and be therapeutic too!
Choose Wisely
Choosing the right face mist depends on your skin type and the season. For a makeup-friendly mist, choose a lightweight spray. For all-day hydration, go for a mist with skin-loving nutrients. For dry skin, summer-friendly mists should have aloe vera and glycerine, or rosewater for deep hydration to soothe and refresh.
“If you have oily skin, summer calls for witch hazel, niacinamide, and green tea to control excess oil and prevent breakouts. During winter, opt for hyaluronic acid for light hydration without clogging pores and vitamin E to nourish and make the skin glow. For sensitive skin, avoid mists with alcohol or artificial fragrances, as they can irritate,” adds Dr Shireen.
The correct way to use a mist is to hold the spray about 10 inches away from your face before spritzing two to three times. Don’t overuse it; too much misting can disrupt your skin’s natural balance and dry it. A teenager can choose an oil-free mist with green tea to control breakouts. “Adults in their 20s to 40s go for hyaluronic acid and antioxidants to hydrate and fight environmental damage. Those 50 and above should prefer richer mists with vitamin E, rose water, or squalane to nourish mature skin. Always follow up with a moisturizer to lock in hydration,” states Dr. Shireen. So choose an apt face mist this summer for a quick burst of moisture.
