World Stroke Day: Experts Emphasize Timely Treatment for Full Recovery

Hyderabad: Brain stroke cases have been increasingly observed in recent times. Recognizing the symptoms early and bringing the patient to the hospital within the first three hours can lead to complete recovery with appropriate treatment. In observance of World Stroke Day, Aster Prime Hospital organized a special event to explain the symptoms, challenges, and available treatment methods for this condition. Dr. Anirudh Rao Deshmukh, Neurologist and a stroke specialist at the hospital, explained that a stroke occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is blocked, causing cell death in the affected area. Unlike a heart attack, a stroke can impact multiple organs. Symptoms may include vision loss, memory issues, facial drooping, speech difficulties, and trouble walking. Bringing a patient to a specialized hospital within three hours can ensure timely treatment.

Treatment options depend on the stroke's severity, including injections, mechanical thrombectomy, or surgery if necessary. Aster Prime Hospital is equipped with advanced facilities for all such treatments, staffed by a team of specialists, including stroke experts, neurologists, neurosurgeons, speech therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists.
The awareness event educated patients, family members, and the general public on recognizing stroke symptoms. The session, which lasted over an hour and a half, featured Dr. Anirudh Rao Deshmukh, neurologist Dr. Neelofer Ali, neurosurgeon Dr. Anirudh K. Purohit, speech therapist Dr. Mohan Ghantasala, physiotherapist Dr. Sherin Samuel, psychologist Dr. Johnson Thomas, and dietitian Jayashree. Attendees received free consultations with the medical experts, learning about the necessary precautions following a stroke and long-term dos and don’ts.
