Bengaluru: Asthma, bronchial patients suffer most
Bengaluru: Despite a slump in the number of post-Diwali ailments, the damage has been done for patients who are already suffering from respiratory ailments and bronchitis. “We are mostly witnessing chest related ailments. People with severe asthma or suffering from bronchitis or COPD are the ones that are lining up at the hospital," said Dr Shankar Prasad, Medical Director, St Philomena's Hospital.
“The soaring pollution levels during Diwali, along with the already existing conditions, are wreaking havoc on patients who have bronchitis and other respiratory ailments,” he said.
“These patients are reporting cough and tightness in the chest. Also, people with asthma are coming in with an asthmatic attack," said Dr Rupashree, consultant physician, internal medicine, Apollo Spectra Hospitals. She has been advising her patients from September to increase their dose of the inhaler at the first sign of tightness in the chest.
