Yoga for the soul
Madhuri Voblisetti could be just 22 years old, but she has been transforming the lives of many people since the last four years. This chartered accountancy (CA) student has been certified by three different yoga institutes in the city and teaches senior citizens and kids yoga for free. Talking about her journey, Madhuri says, “Yoga strengthens your own soul connection. I began practising yoga by watching YouTube videos, but I ended up breaking my back. I was always interested in yoga as my father and sister are into it too. However, my sister has been living abroad and our father teaches only Hatha Yoga. I soon opted for professional classes. Now, I have mastered many yoga forms such as Vinyasa Yoga and Ashtanga yoga,” shares Madhuri, who has also trained at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living Yoga in Bengaluru.
Notably, Madhuri’s day starts at 4 am and she takes up to three yoga classes after waking up. Post her articleship during the day, she begins with her yoga classes in the evening again. She also works out at the gym to make herself stronger so that she can do difficult headstands and handstands. “It’s exhausting, but there’s nothing I love more than yoga. After my articleship, I plan on pursuing further studies in Canada. I will spread yoga there too!” she says enthusiastically, and adds, “Every Saturday, I take free yoga classes for senior citizens at a community hall in Lalitha Nagar. I take free classes at government schools, orphanages and pre-schools too. I have been to Sri Aurobindo International School and St Ann’s High School. I teach kids Animal Yoga, where they can make sounds like animals while practising yoga!”
Apart from taking free classes, Madhuri also conducts sessions at some yoga institutes in the city. Although she is a yoga instructor, she believes that she is also a student as she gets to learn so much every time she teaches people. She adds that yoga is miraculous and helps her face every situation in her life. “I have not got any mental or physical health issues in the past four years. Neither do I face menstrual problems and it is all due to yoga and chakra meditation,” concludes Madhuri.
