#Fitnessgoals is a hashtag which has been trending for a while now – and for good reasons. And going by the trend, it doesn’t really stop at a hectic workout but rather, detailed emphasis is being put on what goes into one’s system before and after. Young Bengalureans are becoming increasingly finicky about their pre and post workout diets. So much so, they are willing to shell out big bucks to eat what their favourite star does or match up to the fitness level of aspiration-al stars. As we look deeper, fitness buffs and experts talk about what their pre and post workout meal looks like and the stars they are inspired by ...
Bidding adieu to processed foods: “My pre-workout meal usually includes an egg, green or herbal tea and avocado. Post-workout would usually include an egg or 2, dinner (because that’s usually the time I return home) so I have rice, lots of yogurt, greens, and carrot shake. While I eat everything in moderation (carbs too) I turn away from processed foods,” states Manasa Sridhar, a final year student of BHM (Bachelors of Hotel Management) at Christ University. Vouching by similar lines, Aakash Nambiar, a 29-year-old social media manager, enthuses how he has flushed the S-word from his diet. “Nobody waits until 40 to eat healthy and get conscious about their diets anymore. My pre-workout meals are mostly dry fruits and banana. Post workout I have lots of fruits whole of papaya or watermelon, Greek yogurt, millet porridge and egg. I completely avoid processed sugar and water is my favorite beverage. I include lots of fruits for breakfast. I snack on dry fruits all throughout the day.” Speaking about one star that truly inspires him, Aakash adds, “One celebrity whom I follow is Milind Soman who is the right ambassador for fitness. He endorses healthy eating and since I know him very well as a person so I believe in his fitness routine is realistic and healthy and follow a few of his tips on diet and workout.”
Good fats are a must: Model Simrann Sabharwaal believes getting individualistic is the key. “It’s important to have good fatty nuts like almonds. I like experimenting by whipping up simple banana based meals as a pre workout snack. A lot of people indulge in caffeine (coffee), but as a rule, I stay away from it. Post workout, a good protein shake is best suggested. I also feel young people should learn to cook their pre and post workout meals that would make them watch their weight more and understand what works for them.”
