Call for steps to contain antimicrobial resistance
Vijayawada: Health principal secretary M.T. Krishna Babu laid stress on taking steps to contain antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Taking part in the global workshop on implementation of action plans by the government for containment of AMR for the second day here on Saturday, Krishna Babu released the report ‘Antimicrobial Resistance-Call for Action’ and the AP State Action Plan on AMR.
Speaking on the occasion, he explained about a series of initiatives taken up by the state government to bring the required guidelines for effective implementation of AMR containment measures.
He also launched a culture-free diagnostics tool for bacterial infections called ‘AMRx’ and said that the digital tool was integrated into the state government’s programme for the use of doctors in public health hospitals.
The Vijayawada Declaration, which was prepared along with other stakeholders, would also provide the platform for execution of AMR containment measures for global AMR community and the Declaration made an appeal to the G20 group to prioritise AMR containment as India to lead the group in 2023.
