Late Marriages and Lifestyle Changes Impact Fertility Rate, Say Doctors
Vijayawada: Specialist doctors addressing the Fertility Conference here on Sunday said the national average fertility rate is 2.3. However, in Andhra Pradesh, it is at a low of 1.7 as per the data in the Sample Registration System (SRS) 2020.
Dr Y Swapna, MRCOG at Nova IVF Fertility, Vijayawada, said if couples are finding it difficult to conceive even after a year of marriage, they should consult an IVF fertility centre and take treatment.
Dr Sree Lakshmi Atluri, fertility consultant, said,” At present, 1 in 6 couples are finding it difficult to conceive. The main reason is late marriage and change in lifestyle.
“There are techniques like Preimplantation Genetic Testing, which can be used in patients having repeated miscarriages due to genetic causes.”
The process helps mothers prevent the “birth of a child with a serious genetic condition.”
