What inspired you to start Monika Alcobev, and how has the company evolved since its inception in 2013?

Monika Alcobev was born out of my father’s vision to bring the finest international liquor brands to India. What started as Monika Enterprises in 2013 was a passion project that quickly grew into something much bigger. By 2015, we transitioned into a partnership, and in 2022, we rebranded as Monika Alcobev Limited to better reflect our evolution. Today, I’m proud to say that we are one of the leading importers, distributors, and marketers of premium alcohol brands in the Indian Subcontinent.

Headquartered in Mumbai, we now represent over 100 globally renowned brands, and our journey wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our incredible team. We’ve built a strong network spanning Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Goa, with a workforce of over 250 professionals. From importation and logistics to sales and marketing, we handle every aspect of bringing world-class spirits to India’s retail and hospitality sectors.

Can you share your vision for Monika Alcobev's future growth and expansion plans?

What criteria do you use to select new brands to add to Monika Alcobev's portfolio?

The selection process for new brands is thorough and strategic. It begins with market research to identify trends and industry gaps. Brands are evaluated based on heritage, quality, craftsmanship, and uniqueness. Once a brand aligns with the company’s vision, we work on establishing exclusive partnerships, securing regulatory approvals, and ensuring smooth logistics and distribution.

Our marketing teams then craft compelling campaigns through influencer collaborations, on-ground activations, and digital marketing. Finally, products are introduced through premium distribution channels, including retail outlets, luxury hotels, and high-end bars, ensuring each brand is positioned effectively in the market.

As a young entrepreneur, what leadership lessons have you learned along the way?

Successful entrepreneurship requires strategic foresight, adaptability, and psychological resilience. Beyond traditional business strategies, anticipating consumer behavior, understanding stakeholder responses, and considering second-order effects of decisions are crucial for long-term success.

How do you balance your professional responsibilities with your commitment to social responsibility initiatives?
