This company in India offers pawternity leave' to employees adopting pets
While companies offering paternity leaves for new fathers are being lauded for being more progressive, a book publishing company in India has announced that employees who are adopting a pet can now avail ‘pawternity leave’.
HarperCollins Publishers India (HCI) will now allow its employees to take a week’s – or five working days’ – paid leave if they have just adopted an animal. Though companies in India are generally not known to offer such a policy, there are a few companies in the West that are providing it so that their employees get time to bond with their new pets, according to media reports.
Apart from the pawternity leave, HCI will also permit employees who find it difficult to leave their pets at home to bring them along to their Noida-based office. There’s even a designated area where the animals will kept for the day.
