Telangana: Plants to help memories live
Warangal: Bringing spirituality and nature together, the Mukti Vanam on the outskirts of Kaleshwaram village is offering an opportunity to extend love to the lost ones by planting a sapling in their name and caring for it.
People visit Kaleshwaram to immerse ashes of their dearly departed in the Godavari River considered holy. However, if they want to grow a plant in the name of their loved ones, Mukti vanam offers the space and the facility.
Mukti Vanam is a garden area being developed by the district forest department in 20 acres. Being close to the famous spiritual centre, they have decided to develop it as not just another garden but as a place where people can complete religious rituals.
Mahadevpur range officer B. Ramesh said the garden also has Raasi vanam, Navagrahavanam, Shiva Panchayat vanam, and Naxatra vanam, each serving a different purpose as part of different rituals.
“People are advised to plant saplings of certain species. It is believed that it would bring them good. By creating this space here, we expect it to be useful for the people for various purposes and at the same time increase the greenery in the area. The plants needed for these rituals are also reared by us in the nursery within the premises of the Mukti Vanam,” he said.
