Varun Tej and Lavanya tied the knot at a lavish wedding conducted in typical Telugu style at Tuscany in Italy on Wednesday afternoon. Family and close friends attended the ceremony.
Manish Malhotra designed the couple’s outfits. Varun wore an ivory-coloured sherwani with gold embroidery paired with a dhoti for the ceremony while Lavanya chose a red kanjeevaram saree with the words ‘Varun love’ embroidered on it. A long veil completed the effect. “She is very sentimental and wanted to have those words on her saree,” shared Ashwin Mawle who, along with Hassan Khan, styled the wedding.
The festivities began with a ‘black tie’ cocktail night on Monday. “The male guests were dressed in black suits, blazers or tuxedos and the women wore black gowns. Varun stood out in a white tuxedo and Lavanya shone in a white crystal-encrusted gown,” shares Ashwin.
The haldi ceremony took place the next day. Varun sported a sunshine yellow chikankari kurta. “Lavanya wanted her mother’s wedding saree to be incorporated in her wedding lehenga,” the stylist reveals. This was followed by a pool party and a mehendi function.
Ashwin says work on styling the wedding started two months ago. “We discussed various themes and finalised the outfits based on the couple’s tastes and preferences,” he reveals.
