Although the actor believes that dads play an important role in a child’s life, he admits that mothers are irreplaceable. “A woman keeps the child inside her for nine months. Also, most children see their dads very rarely as they are out at work and by the time they come home, the child is off to sleep. It’s the mothers who do the lion’s share of the work, although children do start taking them for granted. I agree, no one can take the place of a mother,” says Shahid, who judging by his Instagram posts, seems to be a hands-on father.
“I try to spend most of my free time with my children… From changing their nappies to feeding them, putting them to bed and taking my older one to school, I do it all,” he confesses. Recalling his own childhood days, Shahid says, “I was just a year or two when my parents separated, so I didn’t have too much interaction with my father (Pankaj Kapoor) earlier. My bond with my children will be very different from dad’s and mine.” However, he is quick to admit that his father is a huge part of his life today. “I have learned so much from him.
I love to see my dad and mom with my children, watching them play with their grandchildren makes me very happy,” says Shahid.
