Today, one can do anything, right from ordering online to creating financial portfolios to applying for jobs, on one small but powerful device – mobile. No wonder the matrimonial industry, amongst numerous other fields, has evolved itself to take advantage of this digital revolution. While the turn of 21stcentury saw the decline of local Pundits and the neighbourhood match-making aunties and rise of online platforms; since last four years, with growing mobile market and cheaper internet, the online matrimonial business has been over-taken by matrimonial applications.
The definition of Arranged Marriage has also undergone a marked shift in the last two decades. The parents seek and respect their children’s preferences. Similarly, youngsters discuss and accommodate their parents’ matrimonial predilections.
A mobile application gives both parents and youngsters the freedom to explore the prospects at their own leisure. Such a platform also gives a sense of control to the users, where youngsters have the option to interact and test compatibility before moving ahead and parents get the opportunity to verify the prospect’s personal and family details (just like as in a traditional arranged marriage). Also, a mobile application provides a perfect solution to today’s ultra-fast youth to keep updated on the go, for whom time is a revered luxury.
For the matrimonial companies, such applications have opened a plethora of avenues. The need for setting up a physical office at multiple locations is being rendered redundant. This directly reduces the capital and the operational costs and diminishes the scope of error while exchanging relevant profiles. These applications make a direct connection to the youth, who is, by and large, addicted to this formidable device. And the biggest advantage, these global applications provide an opportunity to easily reach to the NRIs (which is a huge market!).
Signing up on these applications is very easy. However, prudence and caution are always advised. Try and verify the matrimonial company’s reputation before putting in your personal details and pictures on the App. Also, opt for paid services, where you get access to verified users only. Even afterwards, do not trust anyone too much too soon. In this age of easy information and digitalisation, online frauds have increased correspondingly.
