Adilabad's Kuntala waterfall attracts tourists amid rains
ADILABAD: A large number of tourists and visitors are thronging Kuntala waterfalls, which have become active following rains in the upstream areas.
People are enjoying the sight of gushing waters not only from erstwhile Adilabad district, but also from bordering Karimnagar and Nizamabad, apart from even Hyderabad.
Kupti Vagu received flood waters on Friday following rains in upstream Boath. The vagu waters have reached Kuntala and are pouring over the fall. Pochera waterfall has also started receiving rainwater.
R. Srinivas of the Kupti village said Kuntala waterfalls have a scenic beauty that attracts visitors and tourists, who also visit the Pochera waterfall.
Forest department is looking after the management of both these waterfalls. It has put in place all safety and security measures.
Security guards deputed at the waterfalls are not allowing people to move close to the waterfalls, especially Kuntala, whether on the top or bottom side. This is the only way to avoid mishaps, particularly when the water flow is high.
There are a number of other waterfalls across the erstwhile district, which are not as popular as Kuntala and Pochera, as they are in interior areas. The Gundala and Chinthalamadara water falls are located in Tiryani mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district while Sapthagndala waterfall is located in Lingapur mandal.
Tourists and visitors are also thronging the Kadam irrigation project to enjoy boat rides.
