Israel tourism ministry allocates NIS 230M for 55 projects
The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) has announced an investment of NIS 230 million to support 55 tourism projects across the country, contributing to a total development budget of NIS 410 million. The initiative is aimed at enhancing public tourism infrastructure and creating unforgettable experiences for domestic and international visitors.
A notable allocation of NIS 22 million will be directed to Judea and Samaria, marking the highest budget for the region in the past five years. Additionally, NIS 65 million will be used to upgrade infrastructure in northern Israel.
Tourism Minister Haim Katz stated, “Even as we address the needs of 130,000 evacuees, we are planning for the future, investing in infrastructure to enhance the visitor experience. The focus on Judea and Samaria will make the region’s rich Jewish heritage more accessible and realize its untapped tourism potential.”
Key projects include the development of heritage centers, promenades, parks, attractions, biking trails, and accessibility improvements. Some highlights are the Qasr al-Yahud baptism site, a walk-on-water experience in Ginossar, upgrades to the Cave of the Patriarchs Plaza, and the establishment of an archaeological park in Beit El. Additional initiatives include ecological promenades in Kfar Aza, laser shows at the Eilat marina and the Knights’ Halls citadel, and nighttime tours in Katzrin. Renovation efforts will also target Safed’s Old City alleys, the Akhziv Promenade in Mateh Asher, and Jerusalem’s illuminated monuments. A Chazon Ish Heritage Center will be established in Bnei Brak, alongside several other regional projects.
The investment in Judea and Samaria includes accessibility upgrades to the Cave of the Patriarchs, development of the Jeremiah Route in Wadi Qelt, and construction of a tourist reception center in northern Samaria.
Ministry Director-General Dani Shahar emphasized, “These projects were evaluated for their ability to attract visitors, align with government policies, and offer unique tourism products. The infrastructure will ensure memorable experiences across Israel.” Nearly 98 local authorities submitted 119 applications, requesting a total of NIS 1.6 billion in funding. IMOT carefully selected projects based on their potential to boost tourism and enhance regional development.
