Ishita Katyal did not feel out of place for even the slightest bit when she debuted as the opening speaker at the TED2016, an event that hosts some of the world’s smartest people. The 10-year-old writer from Pune spoke confidently about empowering kids for the future to a packed audience.

Katyal says in her speech that the problem of the world was that it underestimates children and instills fear in them. She spoke against war, wastage of food and water resources and the importance of affordable child education.

It’s amazing to watch the middle-schooler speak with so much of self-assurance on a platform that would unnerve even the best of public speakers.
