A virtual pinch & the popper
How often have you seen those pop up ads announcing sales just when you open a web page to read an interesting article? City-based youngsters dish out on the hurdles of their virtual existence that come parcelled with promising goodies.
Any one of us could get pulled into these sales automatically, as they seem so appealing but a majority of us just find them disturbing at the time. Neha BS, a Literature graduate says, “We don’t really have a choice but to scroll past them. I usually skip them as the ‘Don’t See This Ad’ option never works and I will continue seeing them or other ads later on.”
The advertisements largely reflect what you may have searched for in the past couple of weeks or so. As Belinda S, a seller support associate says, “You could disable the ads in your browser but they still come up when you are online. It is annoying since the ads that you see are based on your search and likes, so it would be difficult to ignore them,” she says.
The possibilities and the connectivity that we have attained in the web sphere, perhaps even limits us to just focusing on what happens there. Prithvi Shah a social media expert adds, “It took me quite some time to find a solution to these problems. Most pop ads are usually a result of you downloading (mostly while not paying attention to the fine print) some random free software online. You need to be very careful of what you install in your system. The most basic and preferred solution is to run a scan using any of the many freely available malware removal softwares.”
