Prepping for the NEWfoundland
Folks, it’s that time of the year again. And, nammooru’s enterprising lot are back to embrace the resolution challenge — with a storming vigour to get things rolling. They give us a peek into interesting strategies up their sleeve to make the ‘NY R-word’ tick all year round...
Name: Madhavi Jadhav
Designation: Founder, ThatMate, a free sexuality awareness programme
“The goal for the year is to take fitness seriously. And I’ve actually spread notes to my inner circle about how they should probably score me out for late night binge-eating sessions. I’m always game for teamwork so I’m on a combined resolution with another close friend, so that we watch over each other and send unexpected reminders and diet-friendly goodies to each other, all through the year. We’ve promised to post each other’s weight loss journey on Facebook, so that we’re extra determined to drop the kilos.”
Name: RJ Melodee Austin
Designation: A popular radio host, Indigo 91.9 fm
“ I do not believe in resolutions, but if I had to make one for my well being, then I do believe that resolutions can be made at any time of the year, just not at the start of every new year. It’s easy and simply, FOCUS and reach your goals and targets and make sure your resolutions are for you and you alone, and not to please others. My goal and wish for the year is to spread peace and harmony. Being an animal lover and a wildlife enthusiast I would like to spread awareness in any way possible to be compassionate and kind to animals, as we need them as much as they need us. Let us together protect and preserve OUR marvelous planet.”
Name: Ashok Chintala
Designation: Pet photographer, Paws for a picture
“This year, I’d like to encourage pet adopters, NGOS and others working for the same by giving them little tokens of appreciation, and offering support in my capacity through interesting contests on my page to promote and popularise the idea. It’s only when one is truly appreciated for their work, will people follow suit. In simpler terms, my resolution is to egg people on to make animal conservation a priority — because it’s high time we made a start.”
Name: Aviva Bidapa
Designation: Entrepreneur and model
“The focus for the year is on becoming financially stable. As a young entrepreneur, I’d like to create that security for myself without having to fall back on my family just because I have the privilege. After years of an active social calendar, I believe one of the quickest ways to keep your finances on tab is by not caving in to party pressure. I’ve sent out subtle hints to let people know I won’t be in for wild party hopping. That, and most importantly, I also plan on growth, as with a new year, I’m also growing older — which means, I’ll have to be keyed in on local and international affairs, and also intend to inform and educate women around me about financial planning,”
