Cahoots to celebrate Mother's Day

Group of youth reaches out to mothers in city's old age homes

KOZHIKODE: New generation lads who follow fashion trends are often branded as hopeless and even feckless by a section of society, according to the members of Cahoots, a social initiative started by a few ‘new gens’ in Kozhikode city. But this group has proved the notion wrong.

These youngsters have decided to celebrate this year’s “Mothers Day” on May 9 in a unique manner. After inviting all the mothers in old age homes within the city, these youngsters have organized a day-long party at a private resort in Kozhikode. District collector N. Prasanth will join hands with these youngsters to create a memorable day for these mothers who have been abandoned by their families long ago.

Talking about the initiative, Amal DZ, the founder of Cahoots said, “We are often underestimated by society because of our looks, as we follow the latest trendy fashions. People often brand us because of that and that is why, two years ago, we formed Cahoots to get them to rethink”.

He added, “We and all group members wanted to make the day special for many mothers who have been abandoned at various old age homes. Their day will be packed with wonderful delicious food of their taste and preferences, music, dance and DJ party. Since the district collector promised to spend time with these mothers, they are all excited to join us”, he added. Since its inception, Cahoots has been involved in several social initiatives.
