Music video for a cause
With the obsession for social media rising at an alarming rate, comes this much-needed music video called Mr. Two Faces that aims to spread awareness about cyber safety. The video was compiled by a Class XII student, Neya A Saravanaranjan of DAV Matriculation Higher Secondary School. It was part of the prestigious Web Rangers concept, an initiative by Google to empower teens and encourage them to promote the safe use of the Internet among their peers. Owing to its hard-hitting message, she was awarded fifth place in a nationwide contest.
“Nowadays, people of my age group, and sometimes even adults, post about each and every moment of their lives on social media. Though I have no right to say if this practice is essential or not, I wanted to at least jot down the repercussions they might face if they’re unaware of privacy settings,” starts Neya. Speaking about the contest, she says, “During last year’s summer vacation, my mother suggested that I take up some enterprising initiative. That’s when we came across Web Rangers and I realised that it was the perfect platform to exhibit my skills.” Apart from penning the song and singing it, she also made the sketches for it, “In order to make the video quirky, I wanted to use illustrations rather than conventional awareness videos. It earned me very good feedback,” she says to wrap up.
