Unbeatable track' records

This is the perfect way to workout.

Bengaluru, if you thought completing a marathon was hard, you’re in for a surprise! India’s first Music Run, which promises to be more like a party than a run, is breaking waves across the city!

The run, which has previously taken place in countries all over the world, ranging from Bangkok to New York boasts of having 120 speakers which will play music ranging from pop, rock and even old school music along the 5k track!

Said to be the world’s loudest running track, the run is going to be divided into five different themed interactive zones where the participants control the music playing! “Most people work-out and run while listening to music, so this is the perfect fusion,” says James Serrao, an excited participant.

“The after-run celebration is another great attraction since it’s not like any other EDM concert, which the city has enough of. I’m most excited to witness musicians from various genres perform on the same stage on the same night. It sounds like a whole new experience,” adds James who is looking forward to the mix of music with running.

The 5k run which kicks off with a pre-party gig, followed by a Zumba warm up, and then performances by popular artistes like Lost Stories, All the Fat Children, DJ Gyro, will take place at Clarks Exotica on September 10.

“We are super excited to kick off the event with the warm up set,” says Eben Johnson, of All The Fat Children. And has he ever been into fitness? “I used to run a lot, but mostly focused on cardio. But now, the only exercise I get is on stage,” laughs the artiste about the irony that they are called All the Fat Children and are warming up the event!

“Apart from the spontaneous performances we are known for, we are going to be performing a couple of new tracks that we have been working on and can’t wait to see the response,” reveals the rockstar.

The fitness wave has hit the city, with a number of marathons supporting different causes happening each month. “The youth today is becoming more fitness oriented though the trend is slowly shifting away from competitive and serious running. People now want to run for fun with larger groups,” opines Vishal Jaison, the organiser of the event, which does not pressure participants to finish the run.

“The heart of the run is music,” adds Vishal, about the run, which happens in the evening, which gives it an added ‘chill’ factor. Running has certainly never sounded so good!
