Watch: Live animals sold as necklaces and keychains
Vendors in China have been selling live animals in keychain, necklace for years now. The small plastic packet consists of turtles, frogs, fish and salamanders trapped inside it.
In 2011 CNN first reported about the aforesaid. The tiny animals were put in brightly coloured liquid along with other decorations. The packet is so tiny that the animals can hardly move.
According to reports, the water contains oxygen and nutrients that helps the animals to survive for few days. The animal activists are against this act of animal cruelty. Also, the animals die once the oxygen wears off.
The video below shows the vendor selling the products with live animals trapped inside. Though the video is a couple of years old, it recently went viral all over the internet.
However, it’s not the first time that case of such fashion trend is seen. In South America people wear live beetles. The beetles are covered in gems and worn as brooches.
Also, a company last year launched a watch filled with live ants. They were criticised a lot from public and then the company said that it was an early April Fool's joke.
