Isha & Anand's dhol-dhamaka
Isha Ambani’s sangeet had to be a star-studded affair. And it was. Instagram is going viral with the Bollywood hungama that saw Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan take to the stage and join in the matkas and masti.
The sangeet which was held on Saturday also saw the who’s who from across the world attend the functions. Isha Ambani, the daughter of industrialist Mukesh Ambani will tie the knot with Anand Piramal on December 12. The pre-wedding functions of the couple are being held in Udaipur, and the weekend saw the presence of Bollywood personalities, international faces, politicians and leading industrialists.
With Queen B helming the sangeet, it was a gala like no other. Beyoncé headlined the act that saw Bollywood’s superstars — and ministers join in the fun and frolic. Queen B wore a red gown with gota-patti by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla with a plunging neck line and mirror work which she teamed with gold custom jewellery. She even sported a maang tikka. Beyonce came to India with her mother Tina Knowles, who shared a picture of herself dressed for the gala and wrote: “In India, and just attended a spectacular event leading up to a wedding. I love all the exquisite beading and beautiful colours. People so warm and gracious!!”
The sangeet was choreographed by Shiamak Davar. A guest who attended the wedding was left overawed by the show of opulence, attention to detail and extravagance. The evening began with high tea and cuisines from 28 clubs from different parts of the world (Swiss, French, Italian, German, Indian cuisine, etc from around 10 different cities).
Each guest was given RFID tags, and security was courtesy ex-Mossad teams — for all the dignitaries like Hillary Clinton and the other ministers, according to the guest. We hear even John Kerry, former US Secretary of State attended the celebrations, according to sources.
A maha aarti was also performed by Nita Ambani, with the most amazing sets, sound and light effects and Arijit Singh sang some memorable numbers as well. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton was spotted with Vidya Balan, smiling from ear to ear in a photograph.
In fact, Clinton came onto the stage for a grande finale in full bhangra mode for the wedding. Newly-wed Deepika Padukone looked resplendent in a red saree which her stylist had posted on Instagram. A video of Aishwarya cheering her daugher Aaradhya on was also posted.
Deepika was seen dancing to Loveyatri’s Chogada, and Karan Johar danced to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’s Leja Leja. He also did a repeat of his rapid fire round from Koffee with Karan where he asked the father of the bride Mukesh Ambani to share some secrets about the couple. Salman Khan was seen moving his body to Koi Mil Gaya from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
There is a whole lot of celebrations to follow, and this is where you’ll get the juice on the big fat Indian wedding that saw the world descend on Udaipur, and the jubilation that followed.
