Gourmet meals? Yes, please!
A serendipitous lunch at the Andhra restaurant known for its meals, Nagarjuna, set them on their course – name included.
“Bengaluru has always been in the forefront of the modern food revolution in India,” explains Malvika on how they jumped into the unexplored gourmet food territory with One Full Meals. Now, the 31-year-old who earned her chops from the Culinary Institute of America in NYC and honed her skills at the Soho Kitchen café-bistro and two Michelin star restaurants, whips up everything from mother-in-law’s Kimchi and avocado shrimp salad to feta stuffed lamb meatballs with beetroot dip, pickled devilled eggs, mini grilled-pepper hero, mini cobanos, a mean barley risotto and caramelised poached pears in her kitchen.
“My parents were concerned though. Being a chef is challenging and you’re the busiest during holidays. Being a Marwari girl from a vegetarian household, handling meat was something we had a tough time wrapping our head around,” she tells us.
With her creative, out-of-the-box frills, Karuna complements Malvika’s plates to perfection. Whether the theme is orange, jute, pom-poms and orange buntings for an upscale brunch or a five-course dinner spread, their concepts are as much about innovation as the occasion being celebrated. “People I come across everyday and the city and places that I travel to inspire me on a daily basis,” says Karuna.
