ANANTAPUR: A video has gone viral showing women welfare minister Ushasri Charan holding a meeting with party cadres cross-checking payments made to voters in the MLC elections from Kalyandurg in Anantapur district.
Ushasri Charan has described the video as morphed and circulated to tarnish her image.
Soon after the video went viral, left parties and TD politburo member Kala Srinivasulu accused the minister of using unethical means and demanded action against her. The minister made it clear she has not conducted any such meeting over cash distribution.
But CPI state secretary Ramakrishna demanded that Ushashri Charan participate in an open debate and prove whether or not she is in the video. “We have already proved that bogus voters who have no qualification have been enrolled in the voters’ list,” he maintained.
