Meet Linta, best entrepreneur of Kerala
KOZHIKODE: A decade ago, Linta P Jose was just a housewife who simply managed the affairs of the house, while her husband Shaju was busy with their Baby Care unit at Thiruvally in Malappuram District. But today this beautiful, energetic lady in her thirties is one of the emerging and successful entrepreneurs in the State in the garment sector, In fact, she was selected recently as the State’s Best Entrepreneur of the year by the State’s Industrial Department.
Not just focusing on earning huge profits from her business, this young lady envisioned to create employment for hundreds of housewives in her locality who can earn a few bucks from the spare time they have after taking care of the family. This resulted in her venture ‘Aible Apparels’ started as a sister branch to her husband’s venture Popees Baby Care. Within a short span of time, her venture achieved the status of one of the leading firms in the children’s garment manufacturing segment. She has also begun exports.
“I started off helping my husband in his venture and used to oversee his manufacturing unit that was located very near our house but other than that, I did not have prior experience to begin such a venture”, said Linta. “What we did was to train some housewives in our locality in stitching and designing and the material that is yarned in my husband’s unit is brought to my centre where we make beautiful kidswear,” she explained.
It is after managing her three kids, Aibel (6), Anna (4) and one and a half year old Esther, she goes to her unit and starts work along with the other ladies. “We do not have a blog or a strong social media following like today, and we do not necessarily have big connections in the industry”, she said. “All I did was to take timely guidance from my husband and employees and then take a decision,” she added.
Now her mission is to include more unemployed women and youth in the kidswear sector. “In order to make all our staffs have a feel of home, we provide free accommodation and food to all those who require it and in addition, we also give PF and ESI facility”, she added.
