Brave taxi driver climbs down cesspit to save infant abandoned by her mother

Everyone loves their children and would go to any length to ensure their safety and well being. But once in a while there are incidents which come as a blow to our faith in humanity.

Residents of China’s Jilin city were shocked to find a newborn girl abandoned in a cesspit of a public toilet. While emergency services were alerted, the opening of the cesspit was only eight inches wide.

A taxi driver who was just passing by came forward to volunteer claiming that he was skinny enough to fit inside. He was then lowered down the cesspit with ropes and a gas mask.

On reaching the bottom, the man placed the baby in a net which was retrieved after pulling the driver out safely. The child was covered in blood and excrement as authorities assumed she was born in the toilet.

The video of the rescue circulated online brought donations from residents as the police started searching for her parents.
