The biopic of badminton champion and star coach Pullela Gopichand that is all set to hit the screens soon, will showcase how his mother Subbaravamma was instrumental in nurturing her son’s dreams in the sport despite the several hardships she had to face along the way.
While actor Sudheer Babu is reprising the role of the badminton star in the Praveen Sataru directorial, a source informs that Amala Akkineni has been cast as Gopichand’s mother in the biopic.
Apparently, the filmmakers wanted to cast someone who naturally fits into the role and zeroed in on Amala for the same.
“Amala’s demeanour is very natural and her ability to effortlessly fit into any role gives her the edge. The filmmakers were keen to cast an authentic actress with a high believability factor. Who better than Amala?” quips the source.
