From Pushkar, with love
Star Plus’s upcoming show Jana Na Dil Se Door is a perfect rich girl meets poor boy love story that has all the ingredients of a Bollywood pot boiler. The makers, to ensure that the canvas is grand, have recreated the world famous Pushkar mela for the show.
The cast and crew have been braving the extreme heat in Pushkar to shoot the key sequences. Lots of detailing has gone into giving the audiences a feel of this Rajasthani speciality. We bring you all the action live from Pushkar:
The giant wheel brings the mela to life: The heartbeat of a fair is almost always the giant wheel. The essence of the gigantic Pushkar mela is easily played out by this huge wheel. The locals too participated whole-heartedly.
Desert safari: The cast and the crew made the most of their time shooting with the camels. Stealing some quality time in between shots, the actors and the production members had their very own desert safaris hitching a ride on the camel carts used for the shoot.
Lights, camera and… action: This master shot beautifully captures lead actors Vikram Singh Chauhan and Shivani Surve with the cheerful locals. The retakes, the heat, the massive crowd — almost nothing could dampen the spirits of the cast and crew. At the end of the long day there were happy faces all around smiling at the monitor. The hard work paid off and the results were simply fabulous.
Dhol bajne laga: The Rajasthani folk music adds to the beauty and charm of the colourful Pushkar mela. The rhythmic percussion gets your foot tapping. The sequence became more enchanting the moment the local musicians began playing their instruments.
Dance with me: Looking at the dancer’s moves people felt compelled to shake a leg with her.
The heat! The expression on Shivani Surve’s face is an indication of the team’s fierce battle with the scorching sun. The actors, however, wore their tans with a smile.
