Telangana's Wonder Boy
On Wednesday night, Phoenix Arena was packed with students, professionals and parents who came to witness, 2017’s Civil Services examination topper in conversation with novelist Sriram Karri. Anudeep was greeted with a standing ovation.
The moderator of the talk, Sriram Karri rightly called Anudeep the ‘Great Indian Dream’ for Indian middle-class families. An engineering graduate from the coveted BITS Pilani, Anudeep worked for Google before joining the Indian Revenue Services as Assistant Commissioner. The 27-year-old shared his journey from being an introvert engineer to stepping out of his comfort zone for the most sought-after examination in the country.
During the question-and-answer session, Anudeep replied to all queries with impressive patience. He advised all the parents to provide proactive support so that their children could discuss their issues with them.
To working professionals, he advised, “Do not think that you are at a lesser advantage than those who are spending 14-16 hours a day preparing. Plan your day in advance and put in your 100 per cent effort in the six to seven hours that you are preparing.”
When a student asked him what kind of hobbies would complement his preparation, Anudeep said, “Read non-fiction books. These books will give you an idea of how to structure your answers. The Civil Services exam is primarily a subjective one.”
At the end of the evening, the topper bid adieu to the audience, wishing all the aspirants luck for their examination attempt while obliging everyone with a flurry of selfies and autographs.
