Records of love
Writing the entire bible on a single roll of paper measuring 125.5 metres got Jainthan Francis into the India Book of Records last week. The 32-year-old took five months five hours each day to finish writing the Bible.
“As I was writing, I was asking God to help everyone in the world. I may not do something great, but I follow what Mother Teresa said ‘Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.’ Through this record, I want to tell the youth how special they are and how they can change the world,” he says. However, writing for five months can be tedious but Jainthan constantly motivated himself to finish what he had started.
Born in Hyderabad and schooled at St Mary’s High School, Secunderabad, Jainthan settled in the US for 16 years thereafter. A two-time Guinness World Records title holder, Jainthan returned to Hyderabad only last year.
“My first Guinness Record was set in 2009. A homeless man in New Jersey was my inspiration to create the world’s largest pencil drawing. In 2014, I set another record by creating the largest word search puzzle. I was inspired to do so after I watched a little girl hold a placard at an immigration rally. The 25,000 words used in the puzzle were about problems in the society, emotions and inspirational people,” says Jainthan, who was officially felicitated by the India Book of Records recently.
Talking about his future initiatives, he says, “I am going to start the ‘Eye Heart Challenge’. I will help people in whatever way I can and ask them to help their friends too. I want to spread love in this world.”
