Video: Band creates music using just vegetables
In case you didn’t know, vegetables are not just meant to make salads. They can be used to create music too. No, really. A Vienna-based orchestra has actually been producing fine music using instruments made out of vegetables for the past 18 years.
The Vegetable Orchestra, which was founded in 1998, comprises 11 musicians and each one of them gets to play a vegetable instrument of their choice. In fact, the first instrument that they played was from a tomato. This talented group of artists can play different genres – right from jazz to contemporary music – by tapping turnips, beating pumpkins and blowing carved-out carrots.
The band develops new vegetable instruments and needs to sound check them before every performance. And yes, the vegetables never get wasted as these guys treat their audiences with the soup made from the vegetable scraps after every concert.
