Everyone has a hobby. Well, almost! But we tend to get lost in our daily grind and don’t really take out time to rediscover the joys of a hobby for pure pleasure.
Reading, colouring and dancing are passé; make way to hone these 21st century hobbies like Nail Art, workshops on writing, mix and learn cocktail workshop, beer workshop, learn basics of tech blogging and so much more at the first edition of Leisure Festival, Bangalore Hobby Week (BHW) from August 26 to September 4. This week will witness the coming together of people with similar interests to do something they commonly love.
Prasanna Jagannathan, co-founder and CEO, Brigge, an MBA graduate who is a Silicon Valley veteran and also a golfer, hand-drummer, biker and history buff, states, “Through the Bangalore Hobby Week, Bengalureans will get a chance not only to learn new hobbies and have fun, but also connect with people with similar interests through an app called Brigge. While you’re learning new hobbies, you can also unwind over rooftop movie screening by Hrish Thota, participate in Bangalore video games meet up by Mithun Balraj, be a part of Bangalore Laughter Carnival Punch Tantra by Arjun, participate in music jam by Amith and drum jam led by Roberto Narain or browse through military and sneaker collectibles by Gokul and more.”
All set to take the city through a low impact high energy aquatic exercise class, Jenifir K Sharma, who works with an IT firm and is a licensed aqua zumba instructor shares, “I will be taking aqua zumba sessions at Play Arena, morning and evening sessions on September 3 for BHW. Besides being a fun workshop with dances and rhythms modified to aquatic environment, it will help you stay fit. It’s going to be one big pool party.”
Grandmaster Akshar who is conducting a yoga workshop in Sahakarnagar this Saturday states, “The workshop would focus on advance practice of powerful yoga postures like astavakrasana, tithibhasana, koundinyasana, bhujapidasana and vinyasa flow.”
Celebrating champions who are achievers in their fields is master storyteller, growth hacker and also a theater actor, director and standup comic, Murali Satagopan, co-founder Brigge.
“The activity filled week will also see John Eapen of Tales of Froth hosting a beer workshop teaching its history, ingredients, brewing process and sampling and tech bloggers Vamsee and Angadala will teach tech blogging to enthusiasts at BHW,” says Murali, Sampath Kumar Jagananthan (Sam), cofounder an MBA graduate, a marathoner, biker, badminton and snooker enthusiast, adds, “Bengalureans can also create a group for a hobby they like on the app, host and share the group and the activity on social media.”
