Even at a day and age when love and sex have become coffee-table conversations, film stars still hide behind the "good friend" analogy to hide their romantic relationships. Many stars are spotted holding hands, grabbing dinner with their girl friends from the industry but when asked or written about they are quick to deny it. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are refreshingly different and have espoused a healthy attitude.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, one of the most adorable couples in K-town, have been together for four years now. Though Nayanthara has always kept her private life to herself, fans get a glimpse of their relationship from Shivan's Instagram page. And Nayan too has never denied this relationship. She is happy to share public spaces with him and has encouraged her friends too, to embrace their relationship and has given it the dignity it deserves.
The couple has never shied away from showing off their love by sharing their pictures.
“Instead of making fans or media post pictures on social media, it is better to post the pictures themselves. Celebs don't want to prolong the gossips anymore. It is better to acknowledge their relationship and not play hide and seek with the media and fans,” says Nikkil Murugan, a senior PR in the Tamil film industry.
To make sure they see each other often, the duo love taking vacations together, and have been spotted everywhere from Santorini to Los Angeles. Most recently, the duo flew over to Miami to celebrate Nayanthara's birthday away from the shutterbugs. They also took out time to enjoy a dinner in New York with Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor.
This isn't the first time Shivan has shared moments of his life with Nayanthara with followers on social media. Throughout their relationship, the director has posted snippets on his partner's life online.
Costume designer Poorthi, closely associated with the couple, says, “I know the couple very well. There are wonderful people and are in love and they're very celebratory of their relationship and eachothers successes. The understanding and security is what enables one to be honest and courageous about their love.”
Director, actor and lyricist Vignesh Shivan might only be a few films old but the young filmmaker has made a mark in the Tamil industry. The director makes it a point to wish and celebrate every single festival with his ladylove Nayanthara. In fact at the apartment complex they both live together at, staff and neighbours speak of how loving they are and humble to everyone. In fact when she first moved in, Nayanthara and Vignesh met their immediate neighbours and introduced themselves as a couple and have maintained a warm relationship.
“It is nice that these celebrities are honest and open about their life. Social media handles that post personal life events and don't mask it with anything get higher hits and followers. People always love voyeurism and to find out what's happening in a celebrities life,” explains Suniel Chawla, social media analyst and co-founder of Social Beat.
It is rumoured that the couple will get married later this year. However, there has been no official confirmation. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan met each other on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in 2015 and hit it off instantly. Their relationship has been rock solid ever since and it is visible in their relentless support for each other.
