Living life queensize!
Toeing the fine line between social service and life skills training, Vasantha Vaikunth is an entrepreneur with a cause – the acclaimed danseuse runs a website lifenliving.org, which enables you to attend motivational and self healing programmes with just a tap on your smartphone. In a candid conversation during her recent visit to the city, she tells us everything that’s on her radar; including an upcoming workshop on work-life balance for corporate women that’s slated to take place in the first week of April.
“I realised that emotional turmoils often get bottled within us, as our lives are taken over by technology and fast-paced money-making practices. Although we are connected through satellite, we are all disconnected spiritually and emotionally. Hence, I felt the dire need for self healing sessions for expression sans pretension,” pipes the life coach, who has been conducting self-help workshops over the last two decades in the Middle East, United States and India.
Covering a broad spectrum of things such as management and power of the mind, leading a balanced life, and handling energy, what’s also interesting to note is that Vasantha offers these sessions for free. “I conduct workshops to invoke one’s inner mind. If somebody feels like contributing something towards my work, I ask them to educate a poor child or get a girl married off with the remuneration they slotted aside for my services. I have no ashrams to run nor do I need to borrow money and do charity. This is my way of reaching out to people through a direct and fuss-free way,” she reiterates.
Armed with masters in english and psychology from the University of Bombay, Vasantha is an enterprising individual with a multitude of interests – with dance topping the chart. She was conferred the Acharya Kaliamamani Vipachani from Bala Murli Krishna, and is known for her social dance ballet production, Dancing into Orbit, through which she rendered myriad performances at the University of Tufts, USA.
Speaking about the underlying message that she intends to spread through her website, she says, “Everyone has a hidden skill, but may not have the right attitude to pursue their calling. Hence, through this website, I aim to give them an opportunity for self analysis.”
Elucidating about her other passions that take her time, she smilingly adds, “I’ve always been creatively inclined. I’m an artist too and absolutely love taking to the canvas. On the other hand, I’ve tried my hand at acting in plays as well. When I’m not doing this, I love spending time with my family and counselling people of varied age groups.”
Talking about her forthcoming projects in the pipeline which brings her to the city, she adds, “At this stage, I feel like giving back to the society. And I chose Bengaluru for its cosmopolitan nature and soft-spoken people. I’m grateful to be in a happy phase and devote time to soft skills training.”
