Post work chill out mantra!
Winding down after work is important for every working professional. The next few hours are all yours till you have to be back at it the next day. There are plenty of times when even if you plan out a fun evening, you just end up being drained out without much energy to do anything else. A lot of young professionals love keeping it low key with a quiet dinner, a little work out at and perhaps reading a book or catching an episode of their favourite TV show to unwind. Nevertheless having a little down time to yourself is essential for your health as being at work is a full time commitment. Art and cooking is a great stress buster for Anisha Surana says, "My favourite way to chill is by either painting or cooking up a storm in the kitchen! I used to take up classes for art and baking which I’m quite passionate about and I love indulging in these hobbies of mine once I’m done with work! Harini Chandrashekar loves to read or listen to music when she travels back home from work and keeps her weekends free to do some wall climbing!
Getting into the grind, means learning to space out enough time to catch up on your hobbies as Christin George, a product manager at an analytics firm says, “I usually begin my day with a bunch of friends who I go cycling with in the morning. After work, we get together at one of our friend’s houses for some dinner and spend some time with each other.” Christin admits that he actually loves his job, which does put him at ease, besides getting to spend time with his friends!
It can get quite monotonous having the same routine day in and out, which is why it makes sense to get things in perspective before you exhaust yourself with a lot of work. Sruthi Vincent, a psychologist, who personally loves chilling out at home with her favourite TV shows after work, acknowledges that work hours eat into the best parts of the day. “Yes you have to spend 8 hours at work but you would want to do something other than work with the remaining hours of the day. If people cater to their wants, whether it be playing video games, visiting friends, camping or reading, I think people can avoid build up of frustration and anxieties related to work. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Keeping that in mind, should be helpful,” she says.
