No Monday blues for some
You ever hear your friends rejoicing at the clichéd phrase , ‘thank God it’s Friday,’ and you pray to all the Gods to give you the power to refrain from punching them in the nose. Well, yes you got it right! Here is a rant session from those professionals who work over the weekends and enjoy their offs mid-week. With its own perks and disadvantages laid on the platter – Let the rant sessions begin!
“I go to a mall on my Monday as its my weekly off and feel the world is mine,” says Jithin Soman, a sales executive who works during the weekend. He says, “Our industry is such that real-time customer services ensure that we cannot take our offs on weekends. As my off is on Monday, my social life starts from Sunday evening and my phone gets busy. If no plans, my off is planned in such a way that way that I indulge in a proper nap and then chill with friends after I relish my sleep.”
Jithin readily confesses that he misses partying over the weekends, “But I do ensure that I catch up with my friends on Sunday evening. The one advantage of working on weekends is that I do not encounter crazy traffic when I head to work and it is relatively peaceful at work too.”
Like we pointed out, different folks get different weekdays off. Meghana Pemmaiah P, a veterinarian, says, “Being a veterinarian with one day off, I don’t get to sleep enough. If my friends are free, I try meeting them. We do not have a set week day off as our breaks are rotated on a weekly basis. We make sure to remain in the hospital on weekends as this is when most people visit the hospital. The only disadvantage being that I miss interacting with my family as they have weekends off and I work on those days.”
Process specialist, Rajesh Murthy says that the upside of having a week day off is that he gets to drop his kids to school and get his bank work done. My general weekday off plans include engaging with friends, being little extra active on social media and going to the gym. But the only drawback I face that many of my
friends and family are not free on my day off.”
Sharath Tata, an animation designer who has to work on projects on weekends, takes his week off on Thursday. he says, “Startup with their own set of rules sometimes ask the designing team to work on weekends. The advantages are many. A peaceful work place, wide roads with very less traffic and purity in air. We get a bonus for working on weekends. I can focus on work with few around and a leisurely deadline for the day. And my off will be a mini-staycation as there will be no one at home and it is all mine for the day.”
