Puzzle prodigy
Two-year-old Rohit Balaji is a whiz kid in cracking puzzles with his extraordinary memory power. He started by solving 100 identification puzzles and eventually solved above 200 puzzles.
His parents are training him for the India Book of Records and Kalam Book of Records. Rohit will also solve complicated new puzzles in one minute and older puzzles within 30 seconds.
The puzzles are for the age group between two and 4 years old. But he started solving puzzles when he was 15 months old. Dhanalakshmi, Rohit’s mother explains, “It all started to as a game in order to make him stay at one place. I wanted to divert him from electronic devices and he was a brat so that’s when I brought him these puzzles and that’s when we noticed him memory power which is not usual”.
Even when Rohit is given a new puzzle to solve, he does it within one minute without anyone’s help. “We also taught him the basic names of animals, colours, vehicles, and shapes when he was between 15 and18 months and he also picked it in no time, identifying 150 varieties of fruits, vegetables, and musical instruments”, says, J Balaji, Rohit’s father.
Now Rohit is capable of solving 100 -205 identification puzzles. His interest in music helps and motivates him to solve the puzzles.
“If Rohit completes the puzzles successfully, we are also planning to encourage him to solve Rubik Cubes - classified as a big task for children below 5 years,” says Dhanalakshmi.
