Mulugu Tense After Sighting Of Anti-Maoist Pamphlets

WARANGAL: Tension prevailed in agency areas after anti-Maoist pamphlets, allegedly released by the Girijana Yuvajana Sangham, surfaced in Wajedu mandal of Mulugu district on Tuesday.
The pamphlets were found at various locations in Tekulagudem, Krishnapuram, Kadekal, Peruru under Peruru police limits and Koppusuru, Murumuru, Pragallapally under Wazedu police limits.
The pamphlets condemned the Maoists for planting bombs in forests, endangering the livelihoods of tribals. The pamphlets, carrying slogans like “Bombs in the forest, fear in tribal hearts” and “How long will these atrocities continue? Put an end to them now,” warned Maoists that time has come for tribals to rise against such oppression.
Surfacing of anti-Maoist pamphlets has created a tense atmosphere in the mandal, especially in the Maoist-affected regions. Police monitored the situation as probes continued to find the intent behind the pamphlets.
A few days back, Maoists had released posters in agency areas stating that they laid pressure mines in forest border areas of Venkatapuram and Wazedu mandals including in Karregutta region urging local residents not to risk their lives by venturing deep into forests.
Mulugu police criticised the Maoists for falsely branding innocent civilians as ‘police informers’ to cover up their own violent tactics.
Mulugu SP Shabarish assured locals that intensified security measures are in place. Bomb disposal squads are conducting daily combing operations in Karregutta and other forest areas in the district to detect and safely remove hidden explosives.
